Story
On September 14th, a friend (also confusingly called Laura) and I are swimming the Dart 10K, which has been described as 'epic', 'momentous', 'challenging', 'beautiful' and 'incredible'. The race, as it's name suggests, is a 10 kilometre swim down the River Dart in Devon, from Totnes to Dittisham.

At the time of setting up this page, I have yet to compete in an open water swimming event, though Laura and I have now entered ourselves in almost one race a week over the summer, so I will be posting regular updates here as we go.
Most of you will know that I was born with two dislocated hips and spent rather a lot of time at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, both when I was a baby (which luckily I don't remember), and then returning for regular checkups. Without the support, knowledge and expertise of the doctors and nurses there, I doubt I would be in a position to contemplate competing in a long-distance swimming event, and would probably be living with a great deal more pain on a daily basis. So please do donate whatever you can to support the work that the Hospital continues to do.
Thank you,
Laura
