Story
Thank you so much for visiting my page! I'm pretty sure everyone knows by now that I have been living with an Astrocytoma Glioma Brain Tumour for almost 6 years now.
I can't say how much I appreciated your support last time when I shaved my hair off, but I wanted to go even further and take part in the Brain Tumour Research Jump for Hope - which coincidently is on my birthday! They are constantly researching and investigating ways to cure brain tumours for me and others going through this. The average chance of survival past 5 years when diagnosed with these is just 12%.
So, as the picture above shows, I hate aeroplanes! My mum never believed me that I'd actually do it - which I understand as it's not fully sunk in! But we've signed up for it, we've paid for it, I've had medical approval and it's all gooooo. On the countdown now!
My lovely, amazing husband Marc will also be joining in on this one!
We're SKYDIVING! This will be on the 10th of September near Lancaster! Remember how I hate flying - surely that shows how dedicated I am to raising more money for Brain Tumour Research! I'm sure you'll be able to hear my screams as far as Manchester. Marc will just be cool and collected, acting like it's easy!
I can assure you that me and Marc have paid to the jump so any money donated will be going directly to Brain Tumour Research.
Time for an update on my story (please feel free to just skip to the end!):
I won't lie and say it's been plain sailing; it has had its difficult moments. I've been living with this for 6 years now - which means it's been growing for roughly 16 years (overstayed its welcome I think!) I've always had the love and support of my friends and family - that means everything to me; it keeps me positive through the dark times.
I've had a WADA test, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy throughout those years too. I finished chemotherapy in 2019 and luckily my scan results are mostly coming back with positive news. My last one did show what we hope to be dead cells which could potentially be causing other issues but I am on the waiting list for tests on that one. I think I've had over 20 MRIs now so surely that means I must be some sort of expert at lying perfectly still for an hour?
I hate to say it but there's always a chance this will come back or develop. I always try and stay positive and just enjoy the life I have - which I do! My family, my friends, Marc and the pets! I'm lucky to have such amazing support around me.
So, that's the end of my story on here but you're always welcome to read more about me on the Brain Tumour Research website!

From Brain Tumour Research:
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and just 12% survive beyond five years. These terrible statistics, along with devastating stories of loved ones affected by brain tumours, mean that it is important that we work together to #FundTheFight and help raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. By taking on this Jump for Hope, I will be doing exactly that.
