London to Brighton... challenge 2 of 2022. Let's bring it on. Cycling has to be easier than walking, right? RIGHT?
---
I'm Laura, I've never done a big physical challenge before. I loathe running, I hate being tired and I'm afraid of being hungry. But, this year I'm giving it a go.
I'm walking 106km non-stop around the Isle of Wight with my friends Danny and Kirsty. I'm paying for it all myself, but I thought as I was doing it, and a tonne of training, I would see if anyone wanted to donate to a cause I think is very worthy.
I think hospitals and the things patients need in them should be funded by the government, but it isn't, so while we try and change that, I'd like to raise money for hospitals in the Bristol area to give patients some dignity, comfort and help. Why Bristol? It's where I remember visiting my Grandma when she was dying. One of my strongest memories of that is being on a roof garden sitting with her in the sun. That memory is so much better than being next to a hospital bed. The comedy world lost a great man to cancer this year, and I have some young family also fighting it. It's horrible and hard, but I hope to help the good people trying to make it even micromillimetres easier.
You’re about to do a great thing! The money you donate to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity makes a real difference to the lives of millions of patients who need and use our hospitals. Working alongside University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust as their official NHS charity, the charity go above and beyond to transform patients experiences and their environments. They fund world-class tech, research and champion equal access for all patients. Thank you for sharing my passion to support them and go the extra mile for our NHS.
