Story
Thank you, thank you thank you. My challege is complete.
I decided to take part in the Great North Run (I got a ballot place!) and several other races in 2022. Given that I was clocking up the miles this year I thought I should motivate myself by running for a worthy cause. This year I have been running for a charity that is local and dear to me.
Age UK Derby and Derbyshire is an independent local charity. They have been working in the local community for 30 years, delivering services and activities for older people and their families in Derby and Derbyshire. They offer information & advice, day services and befriending. Please check out their page: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/derbyandderbyshire/about-us/
I have now completed the
Ashbourne Seesaw 10km (March 2022), Derby 10km (April 2022), Ram 5 (June 2022), Ashbourne Half Marathon (July 2022), Great North Run (Sept 2022) and the Chesterfield 10km (Oct 2022).
I intended to run the Belper Rover 30km in August but after the Ashbourne Half I decided, with a heavy heart, toI gift my entry to their charity (sensible; running is as much about recovery and self care as it is about placing one foot in front of the other).
Your support has meant a lot and when it got tough, knowing that I had your encouragement (and quite frankly, your pennies) and that (most importantly) I am doing this to help support a great cause has spurred me on. Not all of it was pretty, but I did my best to run/walk/crawl to every finish line and I enjoyed every moment ❤️
