Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Now for the personal bit! Last year I was diagnosed with epilepsy and fortunately for me it is a mild form. But for thousands of people across the UK, epilepsy can affect their day-to-day lives, often stripping suffererers of freedoms such as driving, taking part in some sports and even having a job. It can also put a massive strain on families and friends who have to provide a support network to the sufferer (particularly in the case of children). This is where Epilepsy Action comes in. They provide much-needed advice and support to sufferers and those people who have been recently diagnosed so that we can all better understand what epilepsy is and how to deal with it, ensuring people lead full and happy lives.
I started running with my good friend Charis in January and vowed that I would be fit enough to run a half marathon by the end of the year. When I spotted the chance to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 11 October I signed up there and then. It was a no brainer choosing Epilepsy Action as my charity and it is definitely worth the early starts, rainy runs and often aching joints. 90% of Epilepsy Action's income is generated from business and public donations. A £10 donation would pay for one call to their freephone advice line and £30 would pay for a volunteer to make three presentations to schools to raise epilepsy awareness.
