Story

Kate's Journey

I am not one to share personal things like this, but this is so very important to me....so here goes!......

In December 2021 I found a small lump in my breast & passed it off as a swollen gland initially, but as the weeks went on the lump got bigger & I was concerned. I had previously had 2 scares before, which thankfully were nothing of concern.

Fast forward through a GP appointment in January where I was told "it was probably nothing to worry about" I was diagnosed in March 2022 at Southmead Breast care center, with Grade 2 invasive mixed lobular ductal breast cancer.

I underwent several proceedures including a mastectomy & have completed 12 weekly sessions of paclitaxel chemo and finally finished with 3 cycles of EC chemo.

I did not check my breasts as regularly as I should have, I was just lucky. So please ladies, check those boobies!
Any changes should not be discounted! Breast cancer is not always a lump, I was fortunate to find mine.
It can be changes in skin colour & texture, shape, size, a rash or lump or changes to the areola area (nipple).
You can find more information on websites such as Breast Cancer UK or Breast Cancer Now.

I am not embarrassed or ashamed to talk about my journey, so any questions please feel free to ask. I just want to raise awareness to as many people as possible.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank my amazing family & friends who have been there for me every step of the way.

Lots of love
