Story
11/03/23: on Friday 10th March, our amazing mum passed away peacefully with us by her side. After a 1 year battle with terminal cancer, she was sent home from hospital under palliative care & we were told a life expectancy of a few days. As strong as she is, she managed to stay with us for 2 more weeks. We were able to say our goodbyes and spend precious time with her.
It breaks my heart to think she won’t see the race as she was so proud and excited for it - but I’ll know a sign when I see one that she’s there with me on the day beaming down to get me through the race.
Thank you for the continued donations. It’s really appreciated.
22/09/22: THANK YOU so much to everyone who has donated so far. If I haven’t thanked you it’s because there wasn’t a surname attached to the donation but please do drop me a message - I’d love to say thanks. Xx
12/09/22: At the end of 2021, our lovely mum was diagnosed with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma).
On the 8th February 2022, Mum went into surgery confident as the consultants had confirmed the removal of the cancer would be successful. We all were so thankful that after this, it would be a long recovery journey - but at least the cancer would be gone.
Sadly this was not the case. The cancer had spread, the procedure had not been able to go ahead and we were told the diagnosis was terminal.
Since then, we’ve cried - a lot. We’ve laughed - a lot and most importantly we have been cherishing every single second we get to spend together as a family as we now know time isn’t on our side.
Without doing too much more rambling inbetween crying whilst typing this, I’ve decided to begin training for a bloody marathon to raise some money for the amazing team at St James’ Hospital.
Mum has been a superhero, back and forth to hospital every other month for countless procedures and 2 week stays - yet she’s the most positive person ever. And that wouldn’t be without the nurses, doctors and consultants on the Oncology Ward looking after her each time she is admitted.
It’s going to be tough, my first ever race and I’m going big! But nothing at all can be harder than what our amazing mum is currently facing. She is beginning chemo in October which although will not get rid of the cancer, it should prevent the spread and growth so she can continue to live her best life.
I would be very grateful if you could donate, it’s for a very good cause. ❤️
