Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just over two years ago I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome or "GBS". GBS is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system causing severe muscle weakness and paralysis. After a couple of tough years I am happy to say that I am well on the way to full recovery.
I will be taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 9 October. This is an enormous challenge for me so please don't expect my time to be anything spectacular...far from it, I may in fact be the last person to finish! But I am determined that I will finish. I want to use this as an opportunity to say thank you to all my family and friends who supported me (literally!) on the difficult days and have kept me going through my recovery. I will be completing every step for them.
I will be raising money for the Brain & Spine Foundation, a fantastic charity that helps people affected by numerous brain and spine conditions, including GBS. Please dig deep and give generously - both I and the Brain & Spine Foundation will be immensely grateful. If you need any further incentive to sponsor me check out my picture - I have to wear an orange vest!!!!
Thank you so much. Laura x :)
