Story

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my Just Giving Sponsorship page. This month I am going to be undertaking 3 challenges all within the space of three weeks of each other a 8k, a full marathon followed by a warm down half marathon so basically I will plodding 45.3 miles within 21 days. For the majority of you that know me up until 3 years ago I was one of the most unfit sofa loafers around and used to complain bitterly about any exercise in any shape and form, have addiction to cake while at the same time complain about putting weight on.Then at the grand old age of 41, I became part of a cheering party for the London marathon and the rest is history or a mid life crisis (4 full marathon 5 half marathons and a few 5ks later)I run for an amazing charity called the Roy Castle Lung Cancer  Foundation who have been extremely supportive  to myself and my family since my dad Steve Vaughan passed away from Lung cancer in 2008, not only have they been supportive towards my family when dad passed way, but they have been superb in the way they have supported me in my running career.During my running career (I can call it this now because I did have an injury once granted it was caused when walking back from the shop getting a bottle of wine) I have come to realise that through all my moans and groans about getting up in the morning I know what type of day I am going to have roughly, cancer patients don’t always have that luxury their lives revolve around appointments, doctors and hospitals.

The RCLCF not only offers support  to Lung cancer patients and their  families but also helps people to stop smoking, my dad was a heavy smoke liked to occasional pint and could be tad grumpy at time and a heavy smoker for over 40 years and he did try to stop numerous times but he gave up 6 months before he was diagnosed and he was proud of the fact he was a non smoker.

Anyway thank you for taking the time to read my page and about mine  and my dad’s achievements, if you would like to donate a small sum that would be great, if you would like to cheer me on that would be good too (always need sweet hander outers) and if fancy taking up a challenge I know a great charity that will welcome you with open arms.Loadsluv Laura
