Story
On Sunday 25th April 2010 I will be running the London Marathon – and hoping to last the full 26 miles! Training has been very tough (although I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to eat as much cake as I want)! It was touch and go for a while due to a knee injury, but now I’m fighting fit, and after your money :-)
For many years I have wanted to run the marathon as a personal challenge and now I have the opportunity to do so, for a fantastic charity – Refuge.
Refuge is a national charity for women and children who experience domestic violence, providing emergency accommodation and emotional and practical support. Refuge is the 's largest organisation of its kind, helping and supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence and acting as a national 'lifeline' for up to 80,000 victims of domestic abuse every year.
Every single minute in the , the police receive a call from a woman experiencing domestic violence, while two women a week are killed by a current or ex partner. I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me whatever you can to help me help them. Here’s a few examples of how your donations can help make a difference; £10 could pay for an hour activity session for a group of children living in a refuge, helping their development and giving the mothers some time to themselves.
A big thank you for all your support. I really appreciate it. Laura x
