Story

I (Laura) have always loved swimming as long as I can remember. Recently I was talked into this challenge by Mel Chapman (who is also swimming) and as I am clearly a glutton for punishment I signed up. Oh and I'm dragging Helena along too as I needed canoe support. The event is organised by www.mytrievents.co.uk and takes place on Sunday 13th September 2015.

Mel and I are raising money for the Breast Cancer Resource Fund which is a charity run by the breast care nurses at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is used to help people who are suffering with breast cancer.  The money is used for things like relaxation therapies, travel expenses and clothing. Laura worked alongside the breast care nurses for a few years and also having been looked after by them, feels this is a very good cause.

Laura had a scare in 2012 when she had to have a lump removed from her breast. The breast care nurses were so supportive and always there to offer advice and support, redress the wound or just have a cuppa and a chat. Their charity is overshadowed by bigger breast cancer charities and so she felt that she needed to give something back.

Mel is doing a year of crazy swims. Having already completed a mile every hour for 24 hours in May, and going to the World Masters Championships in Russia in August, she is taking on the Windemere swim because she's never swum there before and so thought she may as well swim the whole thing!

Thank you for sponsoring us and supporting such a great cause which has personally supported Laura
