Laura's ginger lock chop!

The big chop! · 3 November 2022
As some may or may not know, my Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May this year. A shock to us all. Since May, my amazing, brave & beautiful Mum has battled chemotheraphy for just over 3 months, without a moan or inch of negativity. Unfortunately, one of the commonly known side effects of chemotherapy is hair loss which has impacted my Mum. During this time, together we have managed to get Mum’s confidence back with a lovely wig, trained it to do what it is told to do (still a challenge but it is getting there!) but most importantly, it has made Mum feel and look herself. This has been a real journey in itself. Reflecting on the last few months, I recognise how lucky I am and now it is time to help where possible.. what can I share? my hair!
For most, hair is a huge part of our identity! I am known for my extremely long, ginger hair which has been growing for some years. Along with identity, some find their hair as a level of security & I know I am included when I say this! It is time for 12 inches of my identity & my safety blanket to be given to someone who needs it, a young person experiencing hair loss. The Little Princess Trust is an amazing chariry who support young people with hair loss from cancer & other causes. Each wig at the Little Princess Trust is given free to those who need it & now more than ever, during a cost of living crisis, the funds we can raise will support those young people & their families to have some level of financial burden lifted. After hair donation, the cost to create, fit & style a wig is £550 so lets see what we can do to help!
It isn’t just a wig - it gives a young person back their confidence & allows them to feel that little bit of normal during their brave battles & challenges!
I will be putting my locks in the safe hands of one of my close friends at the start of November before posting my hair off to start its new chapter!
Thank you for reading and donating, it is greatly appreciated
