Story
Myself and Jack have decided to take on the ultimate task of the Coast to Coast. 192 miles in 16 days. From St.Bees to Robin Hoods Bay. It will be a self guided trek and we have arranged every single part of this ourselves. It will be our biggest adventure yet. We will be carrying our own clothes, food and water, and have booked hostels, B&B's, Shepherds huts and hotels along the way. It is going to be a mammoth adventure.
Here's is a breakdown of our trip
Day 1: Drive to Kirkby Stephens. 8:30 am transfer to St.Bees. We will then dip our toes in the water at the coast, and begin the walk, travelling to our first over night stop - 9.5 miles
Day 2: Continue to walk on past Ennerdale Bridge and to our first hostel - 11 miles
Day 3: Continue our walk on to Borrowdale getting back on track with the normal route - 11 miles
Day 4: Continue on to Patterdale where we will stay in our first Shepherds Hut....and our longest day so far - 15.5 miles
Day 5: Continue our journey walking from Patterdale to Shap. Another long day - 15.5 miles
Day 6: The longest day of the trek...Shap to Kirkby Stephens - 20.5 miles
WE HAVE REACHED OUR HALF WAY MARK OF OUR COAST TO COAST TREK - 83 miles
Day 7: Rest day and refuel - zero miles to be walked on this day (hopefully) ha ha - lots of food AND drink :p
Day 8: We begin our journey again after our rest day. Kirkby Stephens to Keld (THE TRUE HALF WAY MARK I BELIEVE) - 11 miles
Day 9: Continuing on from Keld to Reeth - 12 miles
Day 10: Carrying on our adventures from Reeth to Richmond - 11 miles
Day 11: Increasing our miles again from Richmond to Danby Wiske, hopefully getting fitter by the day - 14.5 miles
Day 12: Continuing on, getting closer to that end point. Danby Wiske to Osmotherley - 12.5 miles
Day 13: The second longest day of the trek, one of the biggys. Osmotherley to Blakey Ridge - 20 miles
Day 14: Not sure how we will manage this after Day 13 - but we will certainly keep going for these amazing charities. Blakey Ridge to Grosmont. We will be glad for the shorter walk today - 13 miles
Day 15: The final day of our epic trek across the country. Grosmont to Robin Hoods Bay. Dipping our toes at the coast, and staying over for the evening on the beach - 15 miles
THE END OF OUR TREK - HITTING 192 MILES
Day 16: A rest day at Robin Hoods day, pick up by transfer at 4pm, then travel home
We will then thoroughly enjoy a day at home resting and recuperating the day after.
As this is our biggest adventure to date we decided to do it for a good cause. We have decided to do this for charity and have chosen Dementia UK as one of our charities. This is something very close to my heart especially as I am an acting senior carer at a Dementia home. I have met so many amazing individuals with Dementia over the past 16 months, truely amazing and incredible people. We also chose Dementia UK, as my uncle Phil was recently diagnosed with Alzhiemers and we lost Grandma Jean to this horrific disease too, two truely amazing people, whos lives, and their families lives, will never be the same.
We want to raise as much money and as much awareness on Dementia over the coming months, and we will post updates of our trek at each stop waving our Dementia flags high.
