Story
As a group of heart families, we have decided to do a sponsored walk around Pontefract racecourse (2.1miles) on Saturday 5th February to celebrate Wear Red Day. We have all been supported by this amazing charity and the cardiac ward at Leeds General Infirmary. All our children have the same congenital heart defect, Truncus Arteriousis and here is why we are doing this walk.......
James has had 3 open heart surgeries and a number of cardiac interventions. He is only 5 years old! He has a number of other medical conditions including epilepsy, unsaf swallow and tube fed and a rare genetic condition. He had a long stay in hospital when he was born and CHSF provided financial help and emotional support.
Adam is 7 and he's has two open surgeries at 23 days and 4.5 plus 4 cardioversions which stop the heart and restart in attempt to control arrhythmia's and a reveal device implanted. Adam is absolutely smashing it now, all thanks to Ward 51 and CHSF.
Alya is 7 years old and has had 3 open heart surgeries, as well as other cardiac interventions. Alya has had one of valves replaced with a mechanical valve which means she needs to home test her INR levels. CHSF provide funding for these machines so that life can be that little bit easier.
Savannah is only 1 years old and has had one open heart surgery. Savannah and her mum had to go through this tough time during the restrictions of covid, CHSF provide emotional support and also fund a family support worker to help families.
This is our way of saying thank you and giving back to this amazing charity 😍 any money you are able to give would be very much appreciated!
