Story
The Coast to Coast is a 192 mile unofficial and mostly unsignposted long-distance footpath in Northern England. Devised by Alfred Wainwright, it passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.
It is a path I have wanted to follow for quite sometime. Originally, Covid put a halt on plans to complete this challenge, but a broken leg in August 2020 ensured I was stuck at home base for somewhat longer than hoped.
Now I have had the thumbs up from my surgeon that my leg is healed and ready to stride out, Colin & I are back in training and building ourselves up for two weeks of back to back walkies, up hills, across moors and everything in-between.
I decided to use this opportunity to raise some funds for St John's Hospice. Like many charities, the pandemic has forced a halt to many of their major fundraising activities, leaving them in more desperate need than ever for the funds to continue their important work.
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
Please support me and Colin on our challenge. We are both training hard and are so looking forward to getting up north on the 22nd September to head out on our adventure.
