My Nan was a kind and soft lady, who worked hard for her family and had a good old fashioned ‘make do and mend’ attitude to life. She was brilliant in the kitchen and her cakes were simply delicious.
Nan was diagnosed with vascular dementia many years ago and sadly we lost her at the beginning of 2018. The latter years became increasingly difficult, where 24 hour care was needed. These difficult years were just as unbearable to watch by her loved ones. Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed it effects the entire family.
Tim and I have taken part in the Alzheimer’s walk for a few years now, but this year, as a family we have all decided to take part in memory of a much loved Mum and Nan, to raise awareness of dementia and money to fund research into one day finding a cure.
