Story
I love my job at Mountbatten-Hampshire and can truly hand on heart say it is the most worthwhile nursing role I have ever encountered.
I work with a fantastic multidisciplinary team and everyday I look forward to coming into work to meet our patient’s and listen to their story and be part of the journey. What a privilege 🌻
The hospice is an independent charity providing care and support to people with any life-limiting illness, including respiratory disease, Motor Neurone Disease, heart disease, advanced dementia and cancer. We also provide bereavement and psychological support to patients and their families.
As an independent charity we must raise more than £7m each year to maintain and improve our support services and fundraising is a much needed part of the story.
I will level with you I am not really looking forward to the running part 🤣 the service we provide has recently started to provide night support and there has been a period of adjustment let’s say, that has affected my training plans. 🏃♀️
It started well!
I have been thinking lately about The late Jade Goody. Love her or hate her as a celebrity, the lady put herself out there and gave it her all. I have been comparing her marathon training style to my own and think it’s on par! Hoping I finish 🤞🏻and I’m sure it maybe space blankets and no toe nails at the end 😂
On a serious note the public battle she shared with her own terminal cancer was valiant and eye opening to the country. Unfortunately, cancer rates have increased to 1 in 2 and from experience terminal illness for young adults is not uncommon.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any donation is very much appreciated not only by our team, but for the wonderful patients and families we support.
Take care,
Laura
