Story

On 23rd April 2023, I will be taking part in the TCS London Marathon for Brain Research UK in memory of brother in law Steven.

It’s been a few years now since my brother in law, Steve was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumour.  Following his diagnosis in December 2015 he underwent surgery at Addenbrooks Hospital but unfortunately passed away just 6 weeks on from the diagnosis.

It was a shock for us all and I will never forget his bravery and fortitude throughout the 6 weeks. It was a traumatic time for the whole family but unfortunately the tumour was too aggressive and he never recovered from surgery .

There was nothing really that could be done to save Steve apart from the very intrusive brain surgery but nothing was going to stop him from that slim glimmer of hope

He had the choice to decline but Steve being Steve bravely opted to undergo the surgery

Sadly 88% of those people diagnosed with a brain tumour die within 5 years

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer

Historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to the devastating disease

Any funds that could be raised to support this awful condition and to try and discover new procedures to eliminate and try to ease The devastation that brain tumours leave in their wake would be so appreciated by the charity

Thank you so much for reading and your support is truly appreciated
