Story
Florence, who is 15 years old, is walking 10 miles on the Midnight Walk 2018, for her mum, Sarah, together with her mum’s close friend.
As many of you know Sarah was cared for by St Elizabeth Hospice until she passed away peacefully on the 7th May 2018, a beautiful, warm and sunny Bank Holiday Monday, surrounded by her family. St Elizabeth's provided compassionate care, and gave dignity and quality of life to Sarah during her time there. They were also wonderfully supportive to family and friends and without a doubt, made a difficult time easier to bear.
We are inspired to to do this walk for Mum, and to raise as much money as possible for Elizabeth's Hospice so that they can continue caring for people living with progressive and terminal illness in Suffolk as well as being able to reach more people who need their services - whether it is an an inpatient, at their day clinic or as an outreach service to those who wish to be cared for at home. There is no Macmillan Nurse service in Suffolk as St Elizabeth's provide this service. The Hospice has an annual budget of around £10.5 million and many would be surprised to know that the NHS only funds £2.5 million of that budget. The rest, i.e. a massive £8 million has to come from the local community. St Elizabeth's is an essential service and your donations keep it running! We appreciate every donation big or small.
We also can't wait to neon and glitter up for the event! Its going to be a big party all the way to the finishing line!
Sarah, this is for you xxxx
