Story
On 1st October, I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon (21 km) in aid of Maggie's cancer charity.
Having had a low-grade chondrosarcoma removed from my femur in April 2022 (you might have noticed the scar on my right thigh), and as a third year medical student, I have some awareness of how overwhelming and scary the cancer pathway can be.
The holistic, and personalised, pathway that a charity such as Maggie’s can offer is so valuable. Not only does Maggie’s help people navigate some of the practical implications of a cancer diagnosis (how to claim benefits, return to work etc), but it also provides individual support around the emotional and psychological effects of a cancer diagnosis on a case by case basis. And in contrast to most of the hospitals in the UK, Maggie’s centres are architecturally designed as a safe and welcoming space to work through what the future might hold for you.
II really think that the work Maggie's does is super valuable so thank you so much for taking your time to read this and any donation of any size, as well as some prayers for my survival, are really really appreciated !!!!
