It is totally crazy but I have taken on the challenge to trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in February 2016 to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.  This is a charity close to my heart after my Papa died from Prostate cancer and my Dad was treated for it (though thankfully this was successful).

I was inspired to take on the challenge after a good friend signed up to the trek to support her 1 year old nephew recently diagnosed with Leukaemia.  I decided that I too would like to contribute to a fantastic cause and help other families who require support from Prostate Cancer UK now or in the future.  Together we want to raise as much money as possible for cancer support.

A few facts:

*  Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men

*  Over 42,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year

*  Every hour, one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 10,500 men every year

*  1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.

It is with donations from you that this charity can continue its wonderful work and help families during these difficult times.

Standing at 5,895 meters (19,340 feet) above sea level Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world!  This is going to be an extremely tough challenge both mentally and physically.  I will be hiking for 7 days to the summit of Uhuru Peak, dealing with exhaustion and altitude sickness - this is perhaps what scares me the most!  Stats show that 66% of participants complete the trek.

I am determined to attempt this trek and raise loads of money for Prostate Cancer UK.  I'm sure you will agree that it is a worthy cause.  I will be fundraising over the next few months to reach my target of £4000.
