Story
On Friday 26th March 2021, all the children will walk, run or do other exercise to raise money for Grief Encounter, an amazing charity who support children and families in some of the darkest days. Grief shows itself in many different ways and Grief Encounter are expert at finding out what each little one needs and helping them immediately. By being available by phone, online and in other ways, grief Encounter can reach out to children and help them from the early days of a bereavement until they feel able to move on.
100% of the funds raised by the children and staff of Lansdowne Primary (LPS) will go towards supporting bereaved children and young people who have experienced the death of someone close, and families and individuals impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since March last year, there have been over 125,000 deaths due to Coronavirus. Grief Encounter offer professional support services online, including group workshops, individual e-counselling and memory workshops for all of those who need them. They can't do that without your support.
£26 could fund a helpline session for someone impacted by grief, offering them immediate help and advice following a bereavement, so each class at LPS will use 26 as the theme for their event. Our youngest children will walk 26 laps of their playground. The 5-7s will walk 26 laps of the whole school site or do 26 shuttle runs each. Our juniors will be out in the community walking for 26 minutes to show our neighbours how we are trying to support children across the UK.
Every penny is welcomed. Please sponsor our amazing children.
Thank you all,
Miss Carol Fry
