Story
We will all be nursed during our lifetimes and we will all nurse a loved one, yet we hear very little about the extraordinary work nurses do, and the huge differences that can be made by their actions.
To celebrate the contribution of nurses, and the 70th anniversary of the NHS, Vintage and Christie Watson, author of The Language of Kindness: A Nurse’s Story, will walk 10,000 steps through London – the number of steps a nurse walks in one shift. We will walk with nurses from the Royal College of Nursing to raise money for the RCN Foundation. Every day, thousands of people rely on the care of nurses, midwives and health care assistants. The RCN Foundation gives vital support back to these caring professionals. They safeguard nurses facing hardship by providing advice and support to get their lives back on track. They invest in the future of nursing by funding learning and development opportunities. And they fund innovative nursing-led projects that contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of the public.
'If how we treat our most vulnerable members is a measure of our society then the act of nursing itself is a measure of our humanity.’
Christie Watson
