Story

Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Maggie's Singing Group, led by Greg Friel, meet once a week in the Lanarkshire Maggie's Centre. Many have been members since the building opened in 2014. Everyone enjoys a good blether before/after each session over a hot cuppa. We all love the song choices, especially "Greg has really lovely hair".

Maggie's Centre is a unique haven where people and families affected by cancer can come for the much needed emotional support that a cancer journey can bring. Talking to others with similar stories and to trained support workers, helps every visitor to cope with their emotional challenges. Maggie's is centred round the kitchen table where a hot cuppa helps to welcome and relax everyone who spends time there.

Maggie's Singing Group want to give something back by raising much needed funds to help Maggie's to support many more people. We are going to sing 26 songs in 26 minutes, using video chat, from the comfort of our own homes (because of the C-19 lockdown restrictions).
