Story
Last year was my first year living on a college campus because I was a 2020 highschool grad and suffered from the cancellation of many important moments. Once I was able to get on campus, it was important for me to get involved, not only in clubs and organizations that served me, but organizations that would give me the opportunity to serve others as well. Alternative spring break drew my interest because it was a great opportunity to serve with my peers. Though life isn't perfect, I am well aware of how fortunate I am and realize that there are others in this world who are not nearly as fortunate as me. During Spring Break 22', I went to the Puerto Rico site. I was brought to tears on many occasions. I got to see first hand how other people have to live and it frustrated me. It further sparked my drive and my passion to serve. I enjoyed helping clean yards, power washing roofs and getting to know those who I was serving for and with. The people that I served with not only in Puerto Rico, but on the steering committee as well became my ASB family and I still keep in contact with them until this day. Overall, ASB is an experience like no other and I am honored to have been a part of it and to still be a part of it. I want to continue to help others and serve at any capacity possible for the entirety of my life. I am excited to make an impact during ASB 23’ in my hometown, Chicago, IL. I ask that you please donate to support this years ASB trips if you are in a position to do so. Thank you SO much in advance!
