Story
Colombia Childcare UK (charity no:1097395 https://colombiachildcare.com ) intends to plant a church which will become a social action hub in a very impoverished area in Santa Marta, Colombia in an area called, 'The Island' (La Isla in Spanish)
The new church plant comes out of the original plant which Colombia Childcare started in Pueblo Viejo. This current Church in Pueblo Viejo is a great example of how a church can provide a platform to support and bless the local community in which it is based through a school and feeding programme. We believe that access to education enables those otherwise trapped in the cycle of generational poverty can be freed to secure work which not only affects them but their wider family and the local community.
The Island (La Isla) is a community of several hundred displaced people who had to flee their homes in (persecution from the guerrilla groups) other areas of Colombia. These people are living in appalling conditions living in dilapidated houses or temporary structures with no sanitation, or basic services- we believe that God is able to change that!
Currently we are renting a small building that houses the church - a little further down the line - we plan to buy a piece of land and build the church!
We have a vision to secure the land to see a church planted in this forgotten and impoverished area of Colombia. This will be the first stage to see a social action project develop (our seventh in Colombia) which will provide food, basic medical and educational assistance!
We are looking to initially fundraiser £4000 to secure the land in Las Isla this will provide the first step in seeing this social action project and church come to fruition.
Please stand with us and contribute to this worthy cause.
