I have never felt so ill and unhealthy since my own personal cancer  diagnosis and treatment . I was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer in 2018 which had already spread to the surrounding lymph nodes i had a very successful operation to completely remove my thyroid and 107 lymph nodes followed by radioactive iodine treatment

during my operation i  received some major cervical nerve damage which has left me with weakness and severe pain in my arm and shoulder it also affected my balance and my confidence!

i spent months not really wanting to leave the safety of my home as I had a tendency to fall over !(which i found very embarrassing) but I soon realized life had to go on and pushed myself to get back on with it

being offered a push bike from the bike network has given me a sense of freedom instead of being sat on the sofa watching the world go by i can hop on my lovely bike and go out into the fresh air and more import get some confidence back 

so I thought i would set myself this mammoth challenge of cycling 50 miles in one day its going to be a major challenge for me but if it helps raise more funds for the bike network and others can keep receiving bikes it will all be worth it
