Story
The Challenge
This November, some members of staff from the Laguna Motorcycle Group* will be taking part in the 'Grow your Mo' challenge in an effort to raise money for a fantastic charity named Movember®.
The challenge is to wear a moustache for a day (18th November) to raise awareness and funds for this more than important cause and the work they do. All staff regardless of their hair-growing capabilities have been invited to take part in the challenge as we aim to reach our goal of £250.
We need your help to stop men from dying too young.
Thank you.
The Cause
Movember®
Since 2003 Movember® has led the way in supporting men's health (both mental & physical) by tackling three critical concerns. These areas are Mental Health & Suicide Prevention, Prostate Cancer and Testicular Cancer.
Through supplying support and access to much-needed resources, the charity has helped fund more than 1,250 projects globally - resulting in Movember® raising a huge £802 million for men's health over the last 19 years.
Men's Mental Heath
Globally on average, 1 man dies by suicide every minute of every day. Through stigmatization, society has unfortunately shaped men to naturally not talk about their mental health issues and expressing emotion can be seen as a weakness. Movember® is tackling this issue in varied areas within education, conversation and mental-health well-being training & resources.
Prostate Cancer
Globally more than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Furthermore, across our country more than 395,000 men are currently living with the disease or dealing with serious side effects from the treatment. Over the last two decades, Movember® has funded the development of 54 inventions, 70 therapies and 107 diagnostic tests for prostate cancer.
Testicular Cancer
Movember® launched the 'Know Thy Nuts' campaign to raise awareness of Testicular Cancer, specifically amongst the most at-risk age group of 15 to 39-year-olds - 62% of those who are most at risk don't know how to check themselves. Holding the #1 spot of cancer type within young men it is crucial guys are aware and know what to do.
