Story
Last year we ran this amazing challenge (I was suffering from a sinus infection) and was almost crawling on the steep Jersey hills 😂 🤦♀️ We raised just short of £1,500 so thank you to you, our beautiful, family, friends, neighbours and colleagues that helped us achieve this brilliant goal. The money raised globally last year helped with 50 projects in 18 countries, examples of the following is why funding is so necessary:
£10 pays to swab-test five mountain chicken frogs for deadly diseases.£25 feeds Jantho, Anette and Jiwa the Sumatran orangutans at Jersey Zoo for a day.
£60 buys a canoe for patrollers to protect the waterways of Lac Alaotra, Madagascar, the habitat of the beautiful gentle lemur.
£500 funds a community event in Madagascar to engage and encourage villagers to protect the Critically Endangered ploughshare tortoise from the illegal pet trade.
£10,000 trains a conservation professional to maximize their effectiveness at managing endangered species recovery projects.
These are just a few projects the list goes on..........
The Durrell Conservation Zoo, is celebrating it's 60th year, (it opened it's Jersey doors on 26th March 1959, great month!! 😉). This year the challenge falls on a very poignant month, a month of just giving with abundance of blessings for all. For every penny you donate it will count as a "sadaqa jariya" (a continuing charity) a special charitable act which continues to benefit us even when we have passed from this world.
Our aim this year is to raise a minimum of £5,000 over the next 8 weeks. Please help us save our beautiful species and share the awareness of the amazing work the whole of the Durrell team continue to do globally.
Please share my just giving page, with your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues and let's make the difference.
The good just keep on giving..... #DoitforDurrell.
Love and BIG hugs Wheisha, Adam, Joey and the whole Durrell team 💕
