Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is a local charity that helps refugee families from Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine settle in the Sevenoaks area.

My mother and her brothers and sisters were children refugees from war torn Vietnam and charities such as SWR were tremendously helpful in settling them in their new country and local communities.

It is heartbreaking when I see families that are torn from each other, torn from their homeland, due to war and civil strife; and I find it personally moving and inspirational to contribute to the community that offers so much of themselves to support the resettlement of families at the start of a new life.

I am deeply appreciative of the work that volunteers of SWR do for refugee families in our community and humbly appreciate this opportunity to do what I hope will make a difference, however small it may be.
