Story
Hi Guys,
As you may or may not be aware, on the 28th of February this year (which incidentally happens to be my 23rd birthday!) I will be shaving all off all of my gorgeous, long locks to raise money for cancer research. I'm talking about being totally bald here guys-picture the hilarity!!!!
As crazy as it may sound, this is something I have been planning on doing for 10 years.
When I was 12 my Dad was diagnosed with leukaemia. It was a very hard time for our family, having to leave where we grew up in India and move back to Australia for him to get treatment. But due to the amazing treatment he received and support from so many people, he got through it and has been healthy for the last 10 years. However, my family was one of the lucky ones.
Cancer has also affected my family more recently, when my grandmother was diagnosed with leukaemia. She is currently being treated with weekly chemotherapy and doing well.
Those are my stories of how I've been affected by cancer. Inevitably,I know that most who read this will have been affected by cancer in some way as 14 million people are year are diagnosed with cancer.
Although there are treatments for cancer we are in no way close to finding a cure and money for research is vital.
All donations would be greatly appreciated, as much or little as possible. I am aiming to raise at least £2000 (hopefully more!)
And, if all the arguments above don't convince you that this is a good cause to donate to, surely the thought of seeing me completely bald is worth at least a few pounds! I promise I will post some after photos!!!
Thanks so much for your support (monetary and also emotional when I have to go out in British winter with no hair!)
Linda
