Story
For anyone who knows me they will know that this year I have suffered heartbreak like I have never known before. I lost a best friend to mental health issues earlier this summer.
My beautiful friend Leonie was a Mum to two boys, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a cat lover and friends with enough people to fill a football pitch. On the face of it she had everything, a loving family, beautiful home, supportive husband, holidays – but she has suffered a lifelong battle with mental health and spent recent years in torment. I cannot let her suffering and passing be in vain, so I am taking control and running a half marathon in a bid to raise some worthwhile funds for the fantastic charity that she avidly supported, Mind.
Leonie was happy to talk about her mental health, in fact to use her words – lets shout about it from the rooftops!! So I am looking to carry forward Leonie’s passion and in her honour support the fantastic charity, Mind. In their work they have made a commitment and won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. Mind offer valuable advice and support to both those experiencing a mental health problem and those supporting those affected. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. I would be so grateful if you could help me to support this amazing cause, so please anything that you can give would make a difference.
Thank you:)
