Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Whether you knew Joss personally or if he was a friend of a friend, if you knew him through school or simply through hearing of his amazing story through others, you will know what a true fighter he was & just how inspirationally he took his huge battle in his stride. At just 14 years of age, Joss was found to have multiple tumours in his, at the time, incredibly athletic & what seemed to be very healthy young body. He was diagnosed with a very rare strain of cancer in January 2012.
Despite how we felt individually & together as a family, Joss showed us all true strength, he defined dignity & determination in a way that proved what an amazing young person he was. He stood his ground & prepared himself to knuckle down & battle on. Joss took the news head on & continued to show immense maturity throughout his treatment, which he maintained to the very end. During the months ahead, he suffered unthinkable amounts of pain, huge & unimaginable tests of stamina, determination & strength. He spent endless, exhausting days & nights on Ward M3 in The Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he was made to feel as upbeat & as comfortable as possible by the fabulous staff that Joss, Tiffany & my Dad all made fantastic relationships with, throughout the duration of Joss’ battle.
I'm, personally, not one for showing my emotion or greif publically, so a way I do feel comfortable showing my support is by donating monthly to The Children’s Hospital Charity, every single penny they receive helps & goes towards providing over & above standard NHS provision within The Sheffield Children's Hospital. The charity enhances the hospital and matches world class equipment with existing world class expertise. This means each & every donation directly affects every patient & their family, not only on M3 but for the 100,000 patients the hospital, as a whole, treats throughout each year.
I want to mark Joss’ first angel wings anniversary with something that will stand out, to mark my respect for all he endured & to raise as much money for The Children’s Hospital Charity as possible. I genuinely & gratefully appreciate every single donation towards helping me achieve my goal.
By shaving my hair it means I can also make a difference by donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity who provides real hair wigs for children in the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment - as Joss did, a number of times.
