Kushal runs the London Marathon for Child Rescue Nepal

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
The London Marathon is such an ICONIC event. It is one of the world major marathons and I feel incredibly privileged to be given the chance to run this marathon with Child Rescue Nepal.
Why have I chosen to run for Child Rescue Nepal?
I wanted to fundraise for a smaller charity, one that works in a field that has some personal relevance to me. Child Rescue Nepal do amazing work in Nepal and their mission immediately struck a chord with me.
What do Child Rescue Nepal do?
Child Rescue Nepal is a UK registered charity which has been freeing children from slavery since 1999. They rescue children, keep them safe and reunite them with their families.
As one of the world’s poorest countries, a quarter of Nepalis are living in poverty. It is quite common in Nepal for children to begin working at a relatively young age to boost their family incomes. This makes Nepali children easy prey for traffickers. Families simply looking to improve their incomes do not realise the danger that they are sending their children into when they send them to distant cities to work. These children often get exploited and forced into manual labour in poor conditions, for virtually no pay, no education and no prospects.
Child Rescue Nepal is on the ground, removing children from factories, restaurants, hotels and construction sites where they are held captive for free labour. They take the children to a safe house and provide them with medical care and counselling. The next step is tracing their families and safely reuniting them, providing ongoing support and rehabilitation where necessary.
