Story
Kingston University Mountaineering Club is a sports club within the university providing opportunities for students of all ages to undertake climbing activities, take part in Cougar social activities and weekly indoor climbing sessions, as well as outdoor trips and competitions. KUMC offers the chance to enjoy indoor climbing, sport climbing and bouldering in England and abroad.
In 2013, KUMC climbers are coming together with White Spider Climbing to raise money for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance by hosting a climbathon. The charity exists to relieve sick and injured people in South East England and surrounding areas by providing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and Air Ambulance Service for the benefit of the community. The Air Ambulance service in Kent, Surrey and Sussex costs around £5 million annually to stay airborne.
For the first KUMC Climbathon, we set a Mt. Everest-scale goal of raising £500. All donations from the Climbathon will go to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. We aim to climb 8848m in under 12 hours so please dig dip and sponsor us!
