Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: HEART UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

As some of you may be aware I have a little bit of spare time on my hands now days (!) and in an attempt to make good use of it (as well as to repent all the sins of the last year - of which there are many!), I've decided to run the London Marathon in April and put myself through 26.2 miles of pain and torture in the name of charitable giving.

I will be running for a cause I am passionate about for a charity called Heart UK http://www.heartuk.org.uk/ who raise awareness about the risks of high cholesterol, lobby for better detection of those at risk, fund research into improved treatment and support health professional training. My minimum fundraising for Heart UK is £1,500. I know it's tough times for most of us given the current economic situation but it would really mean a lot if you could reach out and donate whatever you can.

I hope to speak personally with you soon and also hope you may be able to make it down to central London on Sunday 26th April to cheer me on plus 34,000 other nutters!

PS no i won't be wearing that ridiculous costume and wig but maybe next year!

UPDATE 10TH APRIL 2009 - Just over 10 days to go until the big day and adrenaline is bubbling! Having completed the Great City 5km race in 22mins, the Nike+ 10km in 44mins and the Nike Half Marathon / 22km in 1hr 45mins, my training then peaked at 33km around Richmond Park in about 3 hours. The marathon is about 40km so I'm hoping for a time of 3hrs 30 to 3 hrs 50mins! For a first marathon run that is pretty ambitious but I've had a pretty good training run so far and no big injuries... if you can make it down on the day to cheer me on it will make a massive difference, especially in the lat 6 miles which are extremely tough! hope to see you on the 26th!

UPDATE 15TH APRIL 2009 - Getting my ipod playlist ready with some insipiring and uplifiting funky / electro house music! if you have any recommendations for fresh choonz let me know!

FINAL POST RACE REPORT! I had a fantastic race finishing in 3 Hours and 59 minutes! It was extremely difficult on the day due to the intense heat of the sun, one of the most difficult London Marathons ever! But the most rewarding feeling ever crossing the finish line! Thank you for all your donations and helping my dream come true :)
