Story

Dear Family and Friends,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This year (29th March) will mark the 20th anniversary of my late brother 'Kukon' (Abu Shahim). My younger brother Kukon suffered from severe mental health issues and sadly passed away at the young age of 19.

As a society, we have made great strides in mental health awareness. Unfortunately, not everyone understands mental health problems. Members of the BAME community (particularly the South Asian community), and more specifically young adult men, are often misdiagnosed and do not receive the correct care due to the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

In his memory, and to raise awareness of mental health amongst young men and people of colour, I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon (21km) on the 2nd of April and raising money for Mind, a mental health charity. Running alongside me will be my brother-in-law (Maruf), as well as my family friend (Abdul). You can find them via our Team Page.

Any contribution you make will go directly to the charity. The run will also coincide with the holy month of Ramadan. All contributions you make, no matter how small, will be humbly received and go to a good cause. I will be linking this page to my Strava account to so you can follow my training progress too!

Thank you for your support!!
