Story
Pupils across The King's School, Worcester Foundation (www.ksw.org.uk) are worried about the people in Ukraine and wanted to do something to help. They have decided to run various events to raise money to show their support.
Save the Children - our charity - is working with other major charities to support families in need because of the conflict in Ukraine, which is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.
On Friday 11th March pupils will be running a series of fundraising events. Across The Foundation pupils will be wearing blue and yellow for a non-uniform day.
At the King's Worcester Senior School, there will also be cake sales, to raise as much money as possible. At King's Hawford children are making flags and raising money through their concert. King's St Alban's are running a cake sale. A collection will be made at the Netball Superball event and Catering Colleagues are donating cakes to our cake sale. Groups of older students in Kittermaster House and Chappel House are donating one hour's salary from their jobs to support this cause. There will be a collection at Open Mic Night on Friday evening, too. Please support us, too, if you can.
Save the Children is one of the DEC charities, who, local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care. £30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month£50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month.
