Story
When you have £100 in your treat account, what do you do with it?
I contemplated booking a spa day but nah, instead, I paid for my entry to do a 15,000ft skydive!
Anyone who knows me must know by now that I am petrified of heights. I dread to think how frightening it may be knowing that in a few months, weeks or days’ time you will no longer be here with your loved ones.
In the last few years, I have experienced loosing good friends, real fighters and some of them were taken at such an early age. Some never had the chance to have children, some won’t see their little ones grow up and some who will never meet their grandchildren.
The reason I’m doing this challenge is purely to support Saint Michael’s and all the wonderful things that they do. I would like to think that Saint Michael’s will be here for many years to come for anyone in our local community.
Whether they are losing their battle against cancer, lung or heart disease, or whether they are living with motor-neuro disease, or needing some bereavement support, I know for sure they will receive the best care they deserve and want.
I am not asking people to ‘sponsor me’. But I would like to ask you whether you could spare a few pounds:
£2 which would provide personal care items to help patients who are being cared for in bed feel fresh and clean.
£5 which could provide essential medical supplies to ease a patient’s symptoms, helping to reduce suffering and improving their quality of life.
£10 which could create a “First Aid for Feelings Kit” for children,
including worry dolls, stress balls, books and other materials to help them
after the death of someone important with terminal illness.
£45 could help fund a one-to-one session for a child with one of our bereavement team to share their feelings and help them come to terms with their loss of a family member or friend.
£350 could help pay for one person to spend the day at Saint Michael’s and relax, refresh and unwind.
Help me say thank you for not only the care and support my friends and their families had, but to all the people I have come in to contact with throughout my job. Their kind words and stories really do impact on you.
Thank you.
