Story
This year will mark the 20th anniversary of losing our beautiful 3 year old daughter Ella to meningitis. So along with my wife Sarah, two daughters Bethany and Alex and sister in law Karen I am taking on this challenge to reach the peak of Mount Toubkal, 4,167m above sea level, to help defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.
Ella fell ill one morning whilst at nursery and so my wife picked her up and brought her home. By 5.30pm we had taken her to A&E as we were so concerned about how poorly she was. Within only a couple of hours she passed away despite the best efforts of the incredible staff at Derriford Hospital. This shows how quick and devastating this terrible disease can be. Meningitis Research Foundation are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. They are creating a roadmap that if adopted by the World Health Organisation in 2020 will help to save lives across the world and help to stop families from experiencing this life changing disease.
I really appreciate your support to help me and my family complete this challenge. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
