Story
In March 2020 my friend Chloe was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel Cancer. We’ve all had to learn lots about cancer treatments, and surgery that might be available.
Unfortunately it can be a bit of a postcode lottery. Depending on which trust you get treatment from, and depending on a surgeons confidence /experience/knowledge can very much change positive outcomes.
Chloe was lucky to be treated in Basingstoke. They have an amazing surgical team of brave wizards. Their head surgeon Merv Rees is renowned across the UK and around world for pushing limits, to give patients the best possible outcomes.
He has set up a charity called The Pelican Cancer Foundation. It is a really important charity that drives innovation and development in bowel (colorectal), bladder, prostate and liver cancer treatment through research and education, and advancing precision surgery and treatment. Their message is different. Their focus is on surgery, which provides the best outcomes and is often neglected.
Please help me fundraise for them to help them to help us all.
Many thanks, Kristen. Xxxxx
The Pelican Cancer Foundation is curing more below-the-belt-cancers every day by making precision treatments better and better. Every day 50 people die of bowel cancer, and prostate cancer kills 10,000 men every year. Pelican supports research into the best way to diagnose and treat below the belt cancers, avoiding over and under treatment, therefore giving patients the best chance of a cure and a long term quality of life.
