Story
Hi! Thanks for visiting my Run for Education fundraising page. Organic Savanna has launched this exciting JustGiving campaign to raise funds for a new preschool and community center in rural Northern Kenya.
Four years ago to the date, I spent three amazing weeks in Kenya, specifically at the Karibu Centre with Organic Savanna. For the better part of my time there, I was immersed in activities supporting Organic Savanna, the social enterprise arm of Kidspire/Karibu Centre. Fortunately, I was also able to spend time with many students benefiting from the preschool and after school activities, and I saw firsthand how Karibu Centre's holistic education model was empowering children of all ages.
With the opening of this new preschool and community center in rural Northern Kenya, I am enthusiastic about the impact it will have for a new community in need. Funds raised from this campaign will support the education of children from the nomadic Pokot, Samburu and Turkana tribes, whose underserved communities typically lack the educational resources and infrastructure.
As Nelson Mandela famously said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." By running 100 kilometers in the next thirty days, I hope to empower the next generation of children and raise awareness for the amazing work of Organic Savanna's nonprofit partners.
While I did run quite a bit last year, 2021 has been the year of the jump rope for me! Since temperatures began warming up in April, I've typically gone on one run a week with an average distance of 6 miles per run. So, running 100 kilometers in the next 30 days is within reach, but will be a true challenge.
Any amount helps. Thanks for your support! :)
