What is MMA Challenge?

MMA Challenge is the premier White Collar Mixed Martial Arts event in the UK. They give people the opportunity to be part of the world’s fastest growing sport whilst raising money for Make-A-Wish UK. With eight weeks free training, one of their expert coaches will be teaching me the skills needed to succeed inside the cage. Matched against an equally sized and skilled opponent, I will be competing in a fair, competitive White Collar MMA bout inside the MMA Challenge cage.

About the charity

Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, it has a huge impact on them and their whole family. A wish provides them with precious memories to treasure forever – whatever the future may hold.

Why?

I am someone that struggles with anxiety and depression. It’s a battle I’m losing, and it’s time to take control. This event will act as a platform for me to a) grow some, and b) talk. Every week, one in six adults experience symptoms of a common mental health problem, such as anxiety or depression, and one in five adults have considered taking their own life at some point – how many talk about it?

I’m nervous to fight, but whatever happens, I’ve already won and I can’t wait to have a big old panic attack, walk out in front of hundreds of people, and throw a couple of punches for charity.
