Who?
Kindness of Strangers fundraisers are events to help refugees in Europe. Raising Funds & Delivering Outdoors Gear.
Previous fundraisers have been in person events and a book (https://uk.bookshop.org/books/the-kindness-of-strangers-travel-stories-that-make-your-heart-grow/9781786855312) and have raised over £30k.
Why?
The biggest funder of refugee aid in Calais has just pulled out, leaving groups providing food, clothing and shelter at risk of closing down. There are 2,000 displaced people living on the streets and in the forests of Calais. 300 of whom are unaccompanied children. They're all facing a winter with no food, shelter or basic protection. With the cold closing in, conditions will be worse than ever before. People will become more desperate, and more people will lose their lives if we dont act now. The Calais Appeal joins organisations Calais Food Collective, Calais WoodYard, Collective Aid, Refugee Women's Centre, Refugee Info Bus, Project Play and Human Rights' Observers. Without sustainable funding from January on, our efforts to support people on the move will become dangerously restricted. Its up to all of us to show people in Calais that they haven't been forgotten. Please donate what you can today.
