Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I know that some people are apprehensive about sponsoring a GAP year. I would like to reassure you that this is not a holiday and all the money goes to the charity.
SPW make
no profit.
Firstly I would like you to know why I chose SPW. They are an international charity who work with school and university leavers and national volunteers. I will be living in an Ugandan community for six months with a Ugandan volunteer. Together we will work with the local community, especially the youth. We will help them learn valuable and sustainable skills which will help them improve their lives and the lives of future generations. I will by working closely with teenagers and young adults giving them skills that they will be able to use and pass on to other communities.
This is a tried and tested method and the results have been remarkable. By empowering the youth and giving them the skills to improve their lives a huge amount of progress has been made. The work that I will be doing will not finish when I leave, as SPW works with communities for 3 years and because of the networks we set up, the skills are passed on. So your donation will help other communities and future generations.
I am leaving for Uganda in January which is my final deadline for fundraising. The trip will cost £3600. I know that this sounds like a lot of money (at least it does for me as I have to raise it) but it really isn't. I will be in Uganda for 6 months so it works out at about £20 a day.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Students Partnership Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost to you.
So please give as much as you can, as any donations will be greatly appreciated, not just by me, but by the hundreds of Ugandans whose lives you will be improving.
When you make a donation I will send you a link to my blog, where you will be able to read all about my fundraising efforts and my experiences in Uganda. This way you will be able to see where your money is going and whose lives you are changing. I hope to be able upload photos and videos if possible. If you don't want to donate but still want to read my blog or if you have any questions please email me at koesac@gmail.com
Many thanks for your support.
