Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm raising funds for ASPIRE by doing the English Channel Swim - in a pool, over 12 weeks. Thats swimming 22 miles over 12 weeks - sounds simple but for someone like me its going to be hard work! I reckon I'll need to do about 120 lengths a week..its making me feel tired just thinking about it!! (30 lengths once every 2 months is my current ability!)
ASPIRE is a brilliant charity which helps people with spinal injuries. They provide all kinds of support from physio to houses, making a massive difference to people's lives.
I've set my target high at £250 as this amount will buy someone SmartNav technology for a PC - this enables someone with a high level spinal injury to use a computer without the use of their hands. As computers are such a part of everyday life now it will really change their life!
Other examples of what your donations will buy:
£100 - complete set of easy to hold crockery for a house owned by ASPIRE for someone who has limited use of their hands
£250 - the hands free set for a PC
£700 - a laptop & bedside table for a child in hospital so they can study + stay in touch whilst in hospital
£1000 - a hob or sink that can change height for a house owned by ASPIRE
£2500 - a light weight wheel chair.
As you can see ASPIRE need all the help they can get to help people with spinal injuries. Please sponsor me as much as you can - if everyone reading this gave £2 I would be extremely grateful! (of course more is also gratefully received lol). So please just give whatever you feel you can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. If you prefer you can sponsor me in person, just let me know how much to put you down for!
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you so much!

**UPDATES**
20.09.09 - End of week 1 and I've done 160 lengths - 4000m :D Only 1256 lengths to go...
27.09.09 - End of week 2 and I've stuck to my target of 120 lengths. Still ahead overall cos of last weeks efforts, and only 1136 lengths left over the next 10 weeks! Aiming to finish a bit early if possible but there is still a long way to go!
10.10.09 - weeks 3 and 4 went badly for swimming due to a nasty cold + then bad back! I only managed 86 lengths in total :( at least i have another 8 weeks to catch up! In total I have done 366 lengths, 1050 left to go!
18.10.09 - End of week 5 & I've made good progress this week with 144 lengths swum :-) Slightly longer swims this week, so hopefully I can keep that up next week & try to go more often so I can get the remaining 906 lengths done sooner than the 12 weeks.
26.10.09 - In week 6 I swum 92 lengths, not brilliant but not bad considering I spent the weekend away so couldn't make up for lost time during the week!
05.11.09 - Week 7 was another poorly week with me coming down the the damn flu! Meant only one swim session all week and only 40 more lengths swum. In total I've got to 642 with 774 lengths to go.
08.11.09 - Week 8 and back on track with 124 lengths...it does however mean in order to finish the 1416 lengths by the end of Week 12 I now have to do 220 lengths a week :O I feel tired just thinking about it!!!
15.11.09 - Week 9 & 136 lengths down...learnt never to leave the last mile of the week until Sunday as my coworker went home sick so I had to stay late and missed my last chance to swim on the Sunday night! More to make up next week....
22.11.09 Week 10...only 966 lengths done in total so i've got to get swimming in last two weeks!!
29.11.09 Week 11 involved lots of long distances to get to a mammoth 1206 lengths in total...210 left for my last week of swimming!!!!
06.12.09 - I DID IT!!! wooooo!!! On the very last day possible I completed my last 42 lengths to make it 1416 lengths or 22 miles in 12 weeks :D :D :D
Thank you so much for all your support it has been much appreciated both myself & Aspire, never mind the people who Aspire do so much for.
Thanks again :D x
