Story
A year after the last event, Kilometers 4 Cancer 2.0 is back... Many of you may have been involved last time but for those who dont here is a look back at how this all came about.
Over the last 2.5 years i have lost 2 close family members to cancer related issues and this prompted me to run a charity event last year called Kilometers 4 Cancer.
The premise of the event was for everyone to travel as many kms as they could in 24 hours while raising money for Macmillan Cancer support and it was very successful with over 550km being travelled and £1000 raised
While this event really helped me to deal with what had happened, it also gave me an incite into how other people have been affected by this disease and how widespread the effects are in our lives.
The day i am writing this now marks the one year anniversary since my Auntie passed away. And over the last year, not only have i had to come to terms with this but I have taken time to get a greater understanding of how people in my community have been affected.
This has only furthered my desire to continue to raise money for charity for the hope that, even though it is too late for my family, my fundraising will be able to stop at least one other family from going through losing one of their family members to cancer.
Now onto the actual event. The event is following a very simialr pattern to last year due to COVID restriction uncertainty... The idea is that everyone who wants to get involved travels as much distance as they can in a 24 hour period through any means possible(walking, running, cycling etc...) to raise money with the distance being totalled at the end of the day.
As it gets closer to the date (8th January) more information will be released but for now please share this link and spread the word so we can get as many people involved to try and top the mammoth effort from last year.
Thanks for all the support over the last year and feel free to message me if you have any questions
Caleb :)
