Story
Once again I am donning my trainers to raise money for a cause I feel very passionately about. This time I am running my FIRST MARATHON for CALM.
CALM is a leading charity that is focused on tackling male suicide - the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. This charity does some amazing work to support men who often suffer in silence, due to societal pressures to keep things bottled up and not show emotion.
After seeing the effect mental health struggles have had on some of the men and boys in my life, the work that this charity does hits very close to home. Representing them at such a global event means a lot, especially when they haven't been allocated any charity places by the organisers.
In addition to the work they do to prevent suicide, they also offer support to family and friends of those who have committed suicide; I can't stress enough how important this is. The impact of suicide can be devastating, and is something many people struggle to come to terms with. Having somewhere to turn to for support can make such a difference.
Please could I ask you for any donation to help me to support such a wonderful and much-needed charity.
