Story
In October 2019, I will be undertaking my biggest adventure yet, taking part in a tough trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, in aid of Girlguiding. This will be an amazing experience but the most intense walk I will ever have done, so it definitely will be a challenge! But an exciting one.
I have been a member of Girlguiding for over 14 years, as a Rainbow, Brownie, Brownie Pack helper, Senior Section member, Guide and Ranger Leader, and an Action for Change Network Coordinator (sorry, I was never a Guide!) - I'm also a recent Queens Guide recipient! Girlguiding is such an important part of my life; it has given me my best friend, and so many other amazing friends all over the country; it has enabled me to develop a diverse range of skills, and opened up so many opportunities that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Most of all, Girlguiding has given me confidence in myself, to always 'be true to myself', to challenge myself, and to try new things regardless of how scary they may seem. As a feminist, I believe very passionately in all the Girlguiding stands for, and I am endlessly proud of the organisation for leading the way in equality, diversity and inclusion.
Any contribution you make towards this fundraising challenge will be very much appreciated, and will go to an organisation that does so much for thousands of girls and young women every week. You will be investing in their futures, and ultimately the future of our society. Find out more about Girlguiding here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/.
I'll be posting updates about my preparation for the trek on this page, so please do keep popping back. If you want to find out about some of the other ways I will be fundraising for Girlguiding please do follow my arts and crafts Facebook page: www.facebook.com/KJSeniorArt/.
Please note: 50% of my fundraising total will help girls have the best possible experience in guiding, and 50% will go towards my trip costs, including accommodation, travel and the trek itself.
Consequently, I will be making a substantial personal donation to cover trip costs, so as much of your money as possible will go to Girlguiding for their work.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
