The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

I've always had long hair and loved it but I knew that one day I'd get it all cut-off and donate it to the Little Princess Trust. However, life got in the way. Between work, studies and general life, my hair dropped down in priorities. With each new hairdressers appointment (bi-yearly!) I thought 'This is it!' but didn't spare the time to put some actual thought into going through with it so put it off until the next appointment. This went on for years! Over this time, I paid little attention to the length my hair was growing to... until I got a puppy. My hair became her new chew toy. That's when I knew it was time for the big chop and at 47" (120cm) it's been a long time coming! (There are photos in the gallery)

Fun Fact: 47" is about the average height of a 7-year-old or 8 iPhone11's!

My 5-year-old niece says I have 'Princess hair' and she wants to have long hair like her Auntie. She's such a cutie! I would be absolutely crushed if, for whatever reason, my niece was denied the opportunity to grow her own hair as she wanted.

The Little Princess Trust restores faith and spreads happiness in children and families that so desperately need it. The smiles they bring with what they do is an incredible thing that fully deserves every last penny we raise. With 2020 behind us, I am determined to start this year as best as I can and that is to raise as much money as I can by cutting and donating most of the length of my hair. Each donation means so much no matter how little (seriously, anything you can spare is huge!). I'd be wasting an opportunity without at least trying so here's to every smile, giggle and happy tear! Happy New Year!
